odds & ends.

certain days, all you can think about is how nice spring weather can be. how nice the string arrangements are on that one damien rice song. how much fun you're gonna have seeing legally blonde on saturday. how you might able to live on homemade pesto. how tennis might actually be a fun sport to grow old playing. & how lucky you are to have found people that care about you. LUCKY.
all to forget how sad you really are.

pull it together.

frustrating that ben folds can do an impromptu concert for myspace and then release a DVD of it. kooks like titler can do random (though, i admit, pretty interesting) videos and then show up on ben folds' dvd. makes me feel even farther from the (a) (any) finish line than i did yesterday. though, i am beginning to doubt that i'll ever arrive at a day when i'll think that i've fully succeeded and that it's time to rest. i'm not sure that total success exists outside maybe winning a gold medal or curing a disease. but maybe mine's not really a defeatest attitude, merely one of someone who's always looking for more. being content always seemed like giving up. and everyone should know i'm not intentionally including sir ALW when i say that - love changes everything.
okay, enough beer for tonight.

why isn't life this easy to understand?

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

EP to be recorded next month.

well, looks like for those of you hoping for a full-length ain't betty cd, the day may be sooner than later. (think 3 EPs released over the next 6 months). amazing how you (one) can drink (share) almost an entire 12-pack of ESB and still be completely productive over 6 hours. though, if tonight was any sign of the way to future, i'll need to buy stock in a brewery. Elysium is not a flower, as i had previously thought. but the ends of the earth - a place of perfect happiness. and when the day is five red cars in a row, i get to eat lunch there, with mi querido.

man of la mancha starts rehearsals

hello to my small (but vocal) blog audience! hopefully my entries will be more scintillating and less grammatically challenging (and/or challenged) for you in the near future.

last night, we started rehearsals for the spring production of man of la mancha at uc davis - many cast members from last spring's workshop have returned and everyone seems excited to take the show to the next level. the orchestra will have about 17 pieces (though, sadly, there's no piano part). and there will be a full prison on stage. that's where someone should think about living if he keeps text messaging me...

benefit recording

the concert on the 26th can be heard here.

snap.com

so there's competition with google.com. i just read an article about the new sites cropping up that are going to try to dethrone google and metacrawler. one that i thought was pretty cool was snap.com, which loads previews of the sites the hits link to - so you can see where you're going before you click on them. it also offers a feature for people's personal websites - allowing this pop-up window for any external links in your website. try hovering over snap.com. that's all for this morning.
